French Bulldog
French Bulldogs are bred primarily as pets. They are remarkably intelligent, and they make good watchdogs. They are generally well behaved, adaptable, and comfortable companions with an affectionate nature and even disposition. They are generally active, alert, curious, interested and playful, but not unduly boisterous.
The French Bulldog is happy in any loving environment. Their size and temperament make them ideal household pets. They readily adjust to apartment life and large households alike. They seldom bark, but they are always alert to strange sounds. They are affectionate and like to be near their human family; and they especially like children. They are usually quiet and gentle; but always ready to play.
The French Bulldog's coat is moderately fine, brilliant, short and smooth and easy to keep clean. Skin is soft and loose, especially at the head and shoulders, forming wrinkles. They are small to medium size dogs. And their weight does not generally exceed 28 pounds.
Protect your French Bulldog from extreme heat and cold. Take caution when exercising with your French Bulldog to ensure they do not overheat. Avoid the heat of the day as well as long or vigorous walks. If you're planning a long walk, plan to take periodic breaks as well.
It’s best to keep at least one eye on your French Bulldog at all times. They tend to be fearless, even in the face of adversity. And that tends to get them into trouble with other dogs quite easily. They also have a tendency to wonder off with just about anybody that will let them. It’s best to keep your new French Bulldog puppy on a leash, or in the safety of your home, at all times.
The name bulldog is of medieval origin and refers to the robust appearance as well as the powerfulness of the dog.
